Privacy Policy

Unhappen ("the App") is a worry journaling app built with your privacy in mind. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Data Stored on Your Device

All journal entries, check-ins, and personal notes you create are stored locally on your device using an on-device database. This data is never uploaded to our servers. If you delete the App, all local data is permanently removed.

2. AI-Powered Suggestions

When you tap the AI button, the App sends to our backend server only the "situation" and "fear" you wrote, together with an anonymous device identifier used to enforce the monthly request limit (see §6). The backend forwards this text to a third-party large language model provider to generate an action plan or coping strategy, then returns the response to the App. The text is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers after the response is returned. If you never tap the AI button, no journal content ever leaves your device.

3. Crash Reporting

If crash reporting is enabled in the installed build, the App uses Sentry for anonymous crash reporting. Crash reports contain technical information about the error (device type, OS version, stack trace) and do not include your journal entries or any personally identifiable information.

4. Tips and Donations

The App is free. Users can optionally send a one-time tip to support development. Tips are not subscriptions — nothing renews automatically. Tip purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and verified via RevenueCat; we receive only the product ID and transaction ID. We do not collect or store your payment information, name, email, or billing address. Making a tip grants "supporter" status on your device, which raises the monthly AI request limit.

5. No Tracking

The App does not use advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs, or any form of cross-app tracking. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

6. No Account Required

You can use the App without creating an account. A random anonymous identifier is generated on your device and used (a) to enforce monthly AI request limits and (b) to recognise your device after a reinstall if you have purchased a tip. This identifier is not linked to your real identity.

7. Data Deletion

Since all personal data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all your data at any time by deleting the App. No data remains on our servers to delete.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
